About the Owner

The dream begins:

Annabelle Astillero Narlock grew up in National City California along the coast of Southern California. She has had a love for clothing since she was little. Her passion for clothes developed a lifelong dream of owning a clothing store. Her first retail experience was right out of high school selling men’s suits for local retail shop C & R clothing. At that time she was putting together suits, accessories and ties and realizing that there is more to style than just putting together outfits. It was finding the right colors with the way the light reflected on the material and the way the color hit the skin tone of the individual. It was then that Annabelle started to get some interest in marketing, finding ways to up her sales simply by finding the customers needs and acting upon it. This was her first taste in the retail industry and then continued on with other opportunities. For a while she worked two retail shops at the same time. She sold men’s suits during the day and women’s clothing at night. It was quite the transition going from $300.00 suits to bright neon tank tops and capris. Although her days got busy, she managed to be top salesperson for both establishments. It was great experience for her and loved every bit of the journey. After running both jobs for about six months, Annabelle had been offered an assistant manager position for Contempo Casuals. She was able to get some experience with visual merchandising, management, sales and floor control. It came natural to Annabelle to be in that position for being so young and having little retail experience. She probably could have taken on this position as her career but she knew she had to go to school and maybe have the knowledge and credentials to open her own store one day. It was then that the dream had been planted.
